Age Pension

Bereavement Allowance
If you are recently widowed, have no dependent children and have not been getting a payment from Centrelink, Bereavement Allowance helps give you an adequate level of income while you make funeral arrangements, settle financial affairs, look for work and find out whether you are eligible for a longer term payment from Centrelink. Child Care Benefit
Child Care Benefit helps families with the costs of child care. Provides details of eligibility, immunisation requirements, maximum rate of child care benefit, part rate of child care benefit, minimum rate, rate for a school child, hours of child care benefit per week, conditions that apply, approved care, registered care.

Family Tax Benefit Part A
Family Tax Benefit Part A helps families with the cost of raising children. This page covers details of eligibility, maximum rates, income limits etc.

Family Tax Benefit Part B
Family Tax Benefit Part B gives extra assistance to single income families including sole parents, especially families with a child under the age of five. Provides details of maximum rates, sole parent families, two parent families.

Financial Assistance for Students
Provides details of financial help for students through Abstudy, Austudy, Indigenous Education Application Forms, Pensioner Education Supplement (PES), Student Financial Supplement Scheme, Youth Allowance, Programmes and Services, Awards, Grants and Scholarships.

Health Care Cards
You will automatically be issued with a Health Care Card if you are entitled to receive the maximum rate of Family Tax Benefit Part A and you get your payments through the Family Assistance Office.

Large Family Allowance
If you get Family Tax Benefit for four or more children, you will get a Large Family Supplement.

Maternity Allowance
Maternity Allowance is money to help with the extra costs of a new baby (including still born babies and babies who die shortly after birth).

Maternity Immunisation Allowance
Maternity Immunisation Allowance is a separate payment for children aged 18-24 months who are fully immunised or have an approved exemption from immunisation.

Multiple Birth Allowance
If you have three or more children born during the same birth, a Multiple Birth Allowance can be added to your Family Tax Benefit and will be paid until the children turn six years old.

Mobility Allowance
Mobility Allowance provides assistance to people with disabilities who are in paid employment, voluntary work, vocational training,or a combination of paid work and training and who are unable to use public transport without substantial assistance.

Partner Allowance
Partner Allowance helps you if you are facing barriers to finding work because you have had limited participation in the workforce and your partner is getting income support. Please note: You can not claim Partner Allowance from 20 September 2003, but you can continue to get this payment if you are already getting it on 19 September 2003.

Pension Bonus Scheme
The Pension Bonus Scheme is a voluntary scheme that rewards people who defer claiming Age or Service Pension. To benefit you must register as a member then continue to meet a flexible work test for at least 12 months before claiming the Pension Bonus.

Pension Loans Scheme
The Pension Loans Scheme may be able to help if you have capital tied up in your assets.

Pharmaceutical Allowance
Pharmaceutical Allowance helps you buy prescription medicines available through the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.

Rent Assistance
Rent Assistance gives extra help to eligible people receiving more than the base rate of Family Tax Benefit Part A who pay rent to private landlords.

Telephone Allowance
Telephone Allowance helps with the cost of a telephone.

The Jobs Pathway Programme (JPP) helps young people make the transition through school and from school to further education, training or employment. JPP delivers personalised assistance to meet individual needs.

Internet Assistance
IAP - Internet Assistance Program
A joint initiative between the Australian Government and Telstra, the Internet Assistance Program is a free service to contact if you want advice on optimising the performance of your dial-up Internet setup.

It aims to ensure that dial-up users have an effective Internet speed, equivalent to at least 19.2 Kilobits per second, no matter where they live or carry out their business.

Provides you with a test for your Internet Speed, General Tips, Self Help Kit or further support.
