At the moment we have about 12 students, some do both drawing and painting every Wednesday. We like to teach the students to draw using an assortment of materials, at the moment we are concentrating on traditional pencils, later on we will be using Conté, which is a hard pastel, then on to soft pastels.  At this stage, most of the work is Still Life, using a variety of different shapes and learning to shade so that things have realism. We have arranged a Field trip in March to a farm in Talbot, where we will did some drawing and had a picnic/BBQ.

In the painting class, which started last year, the students have mainly used Acrylic on canvas board and have mastered a variety of different subjects, Still Life, Landscapes, Seascapes and Sunsets as well as some subjects they chose to do that interested them. Later in the year, we will be using Watercolours, Oils and Gouache.

We are very fortunate to have been given an Arts grant from Vic-Health with the help of Gerardine and Kate from the Community Renewal Team at D.H.S which means that the students will be able to use a variety of materials supplied by the Community House, and will only pay a small fee for the tuition.

"I love helping to teach art, we have a fun group of people and it's great to see the improvement as we go along."  Dee

"I love to teach art to people as it can free you from stress and give you confidence, there is no one who cannot learn to draw or paint."  Lerrick
