The
Wendouree West Community Renewal Steering
Committee is chaired by
Ms Karen Overington
MLA, Member for Ballarat West. Its objectives are to:
-
Provide overall guidance to a resident led
process;
- Engage the
residents of Wendouree West in building the community through the
renewal process;
- Facilitate an
inclusive, interactive, integrated approach for the sub-committees and
associated stakeholders;
- Oversee, scope,
support and direct the ongoing development of a cohesive, dynamic
Community Action Plan;
- Include
residents in every issue;
- Oversee
implementation of resident approved solutions;
- Develop and maintain community
support/public consultation;
- To deal with media
through the chair;
Have the power to
determine its operations, including -
-
budget
proposals,
- frequency of meetings,
- assignment of responsibility,
- location and time of meetings.

Residents
Group
The
Residents Group
has general objectives to:
- Act as the
representative body for the Wendouree West community, assessing issues
and proposing actions on the basis of their broad benefit to the
community; and
-
Act for the enhancement and well being of the community as a whole.

Identify issues for investigation and action;
-
Request and receive reports from Sub-Committees on specific issues;
-
Assess these reports and their recommendations, and
- if endorsed, refer on to the Wendouree West Community Renewal Steering
Committee;
- if not endorsed, refer the matter back to the Sub-Committee with
recommendations for change or requests for more information.

Organise consultations with the local community on specific issues,
requesting comment from residents and people or organisations
with particular knowledge and expertise of the issues involved,
-
Report regularly to the Wendouree West community on the project.

The
LEED
Committee
has general objectives to:
-
Assess
the educational needs and abilities of the community;

Provide
better opportunities for learning and employment;
-
Assist the community
to become
further educated;

Provide
opportunities
for self expansion;
-
Put
in place strategies that will ensure the communities needs are being
met;
-
Ensure
ongoing support is always available.

Work
on strategies for addressing issues raised by the community;
-
Coordinate working groups to action the strategies outlined in Community
Action Plan;
-
Forward proposals to Residents Group.

Community Works, Environment and Housing
The
Community Works, Environment and Housing Committee
has general objectives to:

Improve the standard of housing;
-
Ensure the housing plan is adhered to;

Improve the overall look of the community
through streetscape;
-
Implement redevelopment and environmental
strategies;
-
Encourage home ownership and pride of place;
-
Work
on strategies for addressing issues raised by the community;
-
Coordinate working groups to action the strategies outlined in Community
Action Plan;
-
Forward proposals to Residents Group.

Community Well Being and Safety
The
Community Well Being and Safety Committee
has general objectives to:

Assist with increased participation in safety
programs;

Provide disability support services;
-
Plan and implement crime prevention
strategies;

Increase awareness of safety issues in the
community;
-
Restore confidence in community well being and
safety;
-
Work
on strategies for addressing issues raised by the community;
-
Coordinate working groups to action the strategies outlined in Community
Action Plan;
-
Forward proposals to Residents Group.

Working Parties
Focus on
actioning specific tasks such as Jaycees Reserve, Mental Health. Reports
