Wendouree West Community Renewal

Vision and Aims for Wendouree West

                                                                                     Renewal Communities
A
Vision for Wendouree West

Wendouree West will have an improved sense of community confidence, pride and amenity as the quality and integration of local housing, services, facilities and infrastructure is raised. The community will be increasingly connected, not just with each other as individuals, but with the broader Ballarat community, history (indigenous and non-indigenous) and its environment. The environmental and physical features of the area will be recognised and protected for their ecological and scenic values and for their contribution to the character and lifestyle of Wendouree West and Ballarat.

Community & Partnerships
The Renewal is about people in our community joining together as partners – older people, teenagers, young people, our whole community, all government departments, local councils, local agencies and many other groups. These partnerships will help strengthen our community, breaking down the stigma and overcoming the isolation that many of our residents feel.

Our vision is to; be proud of our community, feel safe walking around our neighbourhood, make use of the upgraded parks and reserves, have modern environmentally friendly homes, tidier streets, and make use of our new community facilities and resources. A community that is happier and healthier, with confident people watching out for, communicating with and supporting each other.

Renewal Aims

  • An improved sense of community confidence, pride and amenity as the quality and integration of local housing services, facilities and infrastructure is raised;

  • A strong sense of safety and security through reduced levels of  neighbourhood crime and disorder;

  • Higher levels of home ownership and lower concentrations of public housing;

  • Increased employment, training and educational opportunities to raise workforce participation and household income;

  • A more prosperous neighbourhood as local business take up programmed opportunities to participate in implementing projects and initiatives; and

  • Residents remaining in the Wendouree West Community as a result of more positive local image and increased prosperity.
