BEST In The West
'BEST In the West' is a community enterprise developed and supported by BEST Community Development. The Property Services arm of BEST In the West has been successful in tendering and winning contracts to provide services to the community. These include painting, carports and fencing.  A number of local residents have been employed to participate in these projects. A local casual employment register has also been established to provide extra workers during the peak periods. BEST in the West has recruited a Youth Employment Scheme trainee, Zane Pring, to undertake Certificate 2 in Business.

Another arm of BEST in the West is the PC Recycling project.  The aim of this project is to provide local residents with the 

opportunity to purchase computers at an affordable rate.  Again, local people will be employed.

BEST in the West is designed not only to create work opportunities but to also develop broad employment skills, and a work 

ethics and culture in the local Wendouree West community.

A shop in Violet Grove has been purchased by BEST in the West so that the business can be embedded physically and 

emotionally in the local community.

BEST in the West has the potential for the community of Wendouree West to drive the growth of this business, and to ensure 

that local residents have increased capacity to gain employment within their own community.  BEST in the West is a pilot project 

in engaging the local community in local solutions to high unemployment.  Not only will they participate as workers but they will 

develop management and business skills through their involvement in the management structure of the business.'
