What is the Community House?

Wendouree West Community House is a not for profit organisation providing a variety of courses and activities for the local community. Volunteers are always welcome to help out in all aspects of the house operations and activities.

Facilities

Wendouree West Community House has a range of facilities for use and hire, including the tool pool, fax/photocopying machines and Laminating service, phone, a computer lab with internet access, scanning and printing, kitchen area and meeting room.
Community Bus for Hire.
Free Bread Wednesday Mornings.

Tool Pool
Introducing our new Tool Pool.
Wendouree West Community House has a wide variety of tools that are available to hire, including lawnmowers, brush cutters, etc....

Items are for hire Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays ONLY. Items should be pre-booked and need to be picked up from the Community House between 9.30 am - 10.30 am and returned the same day between 3.00 pm - 4.00 pm. For bookings call Wendouree West Community House on 5339 5069

Cost: Lawn Mower or Slasher Mower $10, Brushcutter $10, Lawn Mower & Brushcutter $18, Wheelbarrow $6, Trailer $12, Ladder $6, Step Ladder $6, Garden Equipment (Shovel, Rake, Crowbar, Garden Fork, Pruner) $3 each.


Computer Access
Public access to computers, Internet and the scanner is available Tuesday - Friday, 1p.m. - 4p.m. Assistance is mostly available through centre volunteers.  Open an email account, type letters or your résumé. Access is $2 per hour plus extra if printing. >> more on Computer Classes

Fax, Photocopying and Laminating
The Community House has phone, photocopying, faxing and laminating facilities available at a small cost.

Computer Courses

Course prices marked with an asterix have funding assistance from ACFE and are charged at $1.38 per student contact hour. The remainder of the charge covers house and learning centre amenities.

Beginners Computers
Learn the basic elements of computers from word processing to internet and email.  A flexible class to meet the various needs of the students.

Intermediate Computers
Further develop the basic skills of the Microsoft office suite, develop proficient email and Internet skills, and become competent with peripheral devices such as digital camera and scanner.

Internet Research & Development
Learn the Internet through research & development - learn about secure sites, Internet safety, researching, information gathering and booklet production.

Life Skills
Develop your reading & writing skills, work on budgets, learn how to use a computer to write Resumes & letters to employees, learn job seeking skills.

Basic AutoCAD
Learn computer aided drafting, learn to design house layouts etc. and AutoCAD functions.

Enjoy socializing in an air-conditioned environment.

Activities

Here are a number of the Activities on offer at the Wendouree West Community House during Term 2.

Practical Cooking 
Improve numeracy and literacy skills through practical cooking. Fun and encouraging environment.

Art: Learn to Draw
Using different mediums, eg Pencil, Conte and Pastel, etc. Join a fun filled happy class where everyone is made to feel welcome.  Beginners are encouraged and you will be surprised at what we can teach you in a few weeks.

Time:  Wednesdays 10am-12noon  
Cost:    $7 per session
($14 for both Drawing & Painting) 
Dates: 
Term 2: April 14th - June 20th

Art: Learn to Paint
Using Acrylics, Watercolours, Oils and other mediums. Also there will be some craft painting. Join a fun filled happy class where everyone is made to feel welcome and beginners are encouraged.  You will be delighted at what you will learn in just a few weeks.

Cost:  $7 per session ( $14 for both Drawing & Painting)

Bingo
A favourite activity, lots of fun.  Play for grocery items.  Bring along $3 worth of groceries please.

Learn measuring & quoting of materials, learn to read and understand workshop drawings and plans based in the shed for men & women.
