Service - Frequently Ask Questions (FAQs)
Disability.....Koohinar offers services for people with all types of disabilities or special needs. These services help maintain and develop their skills. Opportunities are provided through a range of activities such as ceramics, painting, bus outings, group discussions, craft/games and other activities according to a consumer's individual needs. Disabled parking permit forms can be obtained from the Council and must be filled out and signed by your doctor. The cost of a permit is $5 and is valid for up to three years. Contact.

Family and Children's.....The CSDRO (Children's Services Resource and Development Officer Program) program is Commonwealth
funded and run by the City of Ballarat. It aims to support child care workers in providing inclusive environments that cater for the needs of individual children. It is also aimed at children
with physical, sensory or intellectual delays or disabilities, and children from culturally or linguistically, Torres Straight Islander, Aboriginal or South Sea Islander backgrounds. A support
directory for families and phone numbers of Maternal Child and Health Centres is available on the City of Ballarat website.

Family Day Care.....Family Day Care is a supervised Council service. Children are cared for in the Care Provider's home.
Children up to the age of 12 can be cared for, with no more than four pre-school aged
children or seven children 12 years or younger in attendance at any one time. All parents requiring care for
their children can access the service. Fees do apply.

Health.....the Ballarat City Council offers a number of Public Health Services including sharps disposal, noise control, septic
tanks, pollution, pediculosis (head lice), food surveillance, nuisances, health promotion, infectious diseases and immunisations. The Ballarat City Council conducts six (6) free public
immunisation sessions
per month throughout the municipality. Council also issue School Immunisation Certificates which are required for school enrolment.

Planning & Building.....Planning Permits are often required from Council before buildings and works are undertaken, native vegetation
removed, filling or subdivision of land or the erection of signage. The Council is involved with the issuing of building permits and fulfilling the Unit's statutory obligations under building legislation,
relative to the safety of occupants and building standards.

Waste and Recycling.....The Ballarat City Council offers waste collection, recycling collection, paper
collection
and greenwaste collection. Waste is collected every week, recycling every two
weeks and papers every four weeks. Greenwaste collection is contracted to Organic Recyclers Pty
Ltd and is collected on a
user pays basis. Collection schedules are available from the Ballarat City Council.
